Jenny P’s Green Thumb
Jenny P has the greenest thumb…
And no one knows where she got it from.
Her houseplants grow big in every room.
Outside, her flowers are always in bloom.
She not only feeds, and weeds, and waters,
she speaks to them, like her sons or her daughters.
Some like rock n roll. Some like to be touched.
Some like lots of sun, some not so much.
Leafy, or prickly, or flowery, or sappy,
she knows how to keep them strong, and happy!
Her roses are radiant,
petunias are perky.
Wisteria? Wonderful,
(and they can be quirky).
Her basil is bountiful,
cilantro, sublime.
I’d mention the rosemary,
but who has the thyme?
Peppers a plenty,
plus bushels of Brussels,
and spinach, ya know,
‘cause it’s good for your muscles!
And, nothing worthwhile comes ever with ease.
She’s had poison ivy, been stung by bees,
had dirt in her eyes, and rocks in her shoes,
had cuts on her fingers, and more than one bruise.
She battles the bugs, and the rain, and the heat,
and the bunnies, who like a nice flowery treat.
But in the end, it’s all worthwhile.
Her leafy friends do make her smile.
Yep – Jenny P has the greenest thumb,
That’s a funny saying. Where did it come from?
Because, when she’s done, and it’s time to get clean…
They’re actually more dirty than green!
