~ Plato

Hot Sauce

I put ketchup on my burger, and took a nice big bite.
But almost right away something didn’t seem quite right.
My tongue started tingling, and then began to burn.
It wasn’t long before this was a matter of concern.
Frantically I looked inside – I couldn’t feel my lips!
Nothing but the burger, ketchup, and some pickle chips.
THE KETCHUP! (Now my eyes were tearing), that must be it, of course!
I read the label on the jar – “Red Hot Pepper Sauce”…
Now I’m sweating, panting, and my ears are getting hot.
My nose is running, chin is twitching, and I’m seeing spots.
Tears are running down my cheeks, and now I can’t stop sneezing.
The fire in my mouth has got me drooling, and I’m wheezing.
I tried drinking water, milk, a soda and some juice.
Mouth still burning, nose still running - it was just no use.
Nothing seemed to help me out, nothing did the trick.
I guess I’d have to wait it out, there was no easy fix.
Soon enough, my mouth was better, and I wasn’t crying.
I wasn’t sweating, panting, drooling, and my nose was drying.
I did learn my lesson though, when dinner’s on the table.
I put nothing on my food unless I read the label.
As for hot sauce, I won’t forget the experience I had.
But all in all, I have to say…… It wasn’t all that bad!

"Music is probably the only real magic I have encountered in my life There's not some trick involved with it. It's pure and it's real. It moves, it heals, it communicates and does all those incredible things."

~ Tom Petty
